Why Accurate Time Matters
Accurate time underpins modern infrastructure. Financial transactions, logs and audit trails, authentication tokens, certificate validation, distributed databases and telecommunications all depend on clocks that agree with one another and with a trusted reference. A drifting clock causes failed logins, unreliable records and hard-to-diagnose faults across connected systems.
Time and UTC
Network time is distributed as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), derived from atomic clocks and broadcast by satellite navigation systems such as GPS. Local time, including summer and winter time, is applied by each device from its time zone database; it is never carried by the NTP protocol itself.
How NTP Works
The Network Time Protocol (NTP) synchronizes clocks over packet networks, typically to within milliseconds over the internet. Servers are organised in strata: Stratum 1 servers take time directly from a reference clock such as a GPS receiver, and each further level takes it from the level above. Fewer hops to a real reference means a more accurate and more independent result.
Our Service
CONSOLIDARE CONTINUUM S.R.L. operates a Stratum 1 NTP server in Chișinău, disciplined by GPS and a hardware pulse-per-second (PPS) signal, and offers it openly to the public at no charge and without registration. The server also participates in the global NTP pool. See Client Setup for configuration instructions and the home page for live service status.
